Be Wise in What Church You Attend
(after Philadelphia Church of God)

If you have left Philadelphia Church of God, be wise in attending just any church.  We have to question some of the present day churches' "positives." I don't seriously think there is full Biblical truth in any church today.  I would venture to say that ninety-nine percent of the churches in this world today are about people attending to feel good on Sunday, or to have some sort of an "experience." Ministers are preaching sermons for ears that want to hear what they want to hear and are not really ministering the Word of God in relation to what God has to say to them (what most don't want to hear).  Churches shouldn't be a business, as PCG is, but a revealing of what the Holy Spirit says about Christ and the Word of God.  If I were a minister, I would study my Bible, trust and pray first, and not rely on what I think my congregation wants to hear.  I would not prophesy, but help the congregation open their eyes to what the Scriptures say about salvation and let the Holy Spirit lead me.  Faith first, then studying the Scriptures with the guidance of the Holy Spirit are the keys to being a true minister and not what the ears of the people want.

There is only one baptism.  Many churches keep coming up with all kinds of methods and answers instead of just pointing us to Jesus.  There is no magic, no triple baptisms, no laying on of hands, in order to receive the Holy Spirit; no works to gain salvation, etc., etc.  Our Heavenly Father can only see us through the righteousness of His Son, Jesus.  We are sinners, including me. Jesus died for you and me personally.  I wanted to accept Him and live for Him because of what He did.  How can I not?  How can anyone not?

When you rely on your helping the YMCA, joining churches, serving the elderly, or receiving multiple baptisms (including "baptism of the Spirit), etc. for your salvation, this is worthless because you are taking away from what was already done for you when God gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins as the perfect and complete sacrifice! Today Jesus is continuing to intercede for us. This world is filled with many false churches, PCG being only one. Anything that takes away from God sending His Son to be a sacrifice for all takes away from the totality of mankind's redemption. This includes believing in multiple fillings of the Spirit, added works and rituals, the need of additional books to interpret the Bible, twisting of the Scriptures and anything else! As the late J. Vernon McGee said, "Our puny efforts mean nothing compared to what Jesus did for us, and anything else we try to offer for our salvation is zero."

COMMENTS FROM ESN: Many that leave PCG have been going into David C. Pack's Restored Church of God. For articles on Pack's group (including reviews of his sermons), which will show you exactly what you are getting into, please read: Information on Restored Church of God.

NOTE: Many churches today are part of the modern Charismatic movement (which includes "signs and wonders" and "prophetic revelations"). This movement is calling for ecumenical unity of all churches and places a higher priority on experiences and revelations spoken through "apostles and prophets" than on sound doctrine.
