It has been about a year now
since I listened to those preaching Herbert
Armstrong. I was born in
1983 and I started to really get into the Bible around 2000. Well, as I
started my search, the first person I found was Herbert W. Armstrong
dedication websites. I started writing them, gathering materials and
reading them. I bought a large collection of about 100 Plain Truth
and World Tomorrow magazines.1 Then I contacted a man in Australia
to get an Armstrong video compilation of old programs. He then contacted
a woman in the States which sent me a big binder of the Bible study
course and 5 videos with over 40 old World Tomorrow TV programs.
Following I received many booklets and tapes, and CD Sermons. Then I
found
the son's organization, Garner Ted
Armstrong, The Intercontinental Church of
God. I read his info constantly, and I was quite zealous about it at
first.
Following this, I was on their mailing list; also Roderick
Meredith's Living Church of God, and Gerald
Flurry of the Philadelphia COG. I would also mention that because I
was changing to Saturday Sabbath, saying Easter was pagan and also
Christmas, I was quite an outcast in my family. I read so many booklets
and books. I wish I had never wasted my time, but now finding that there
are others, it is like deliverance out of Babylon. I even contacted the
Garner Ted Armstrong Evangelistic Association and found a nearby congregation just
outside of Houston, Texas, which I did not stay with too long, just a few
months. This is what began to wake me up. And it was destroying my
relationship with my family.
I am glad to say now things are
much better since. But I used to study night and day after school just
to read Armstrong's letters. The greatest change has been in this year
2003, in which the truth began to unravel for me, and the False Prophet
(Herbert W.
Armstrong) was exposed. So my journey only lasted about two
and 1/2 years, but I am only 19, and when I study something it literally
consumed my entire free time from age 17-18. The pain of this heretical
system has caused so much grief. But now to come out of it, gives me
great joy. Also I gave many tithes to Garner's work. I wish I had my
money back.
Thank you.
