I grew up in the
WCG, but count
myself pretty lucky because I was fortunate enough to have a family that was pretty level-headed, despite being
lifelong members of the "church." However, my uncle and his family are now members
of PCG. They have three children, and I have always been very close with
them.
The oldest just graduated from high school and is now attending the
PCG's
college. I am saddened because I fear I will never see him again. He has
been discouraged by the church from coming home for the summer and he
now doesn't respond to my e-mails. It's like he is dead to me. His
brothers are following close in his footsteps. I am not allowed to spend
time with either
one of them, because I made the mistake of trying to talk the oldest out
of going to Imperial College.1 My parents and I have essentially lost our
family to Gerald Flurry and his madness. He doesn't teach love, mercy
and acceptance, but only how to worship him.
I want PCG members to know how much they have hurt their
families.
When my grandmother died (who was also a former member of
Worldwide Church of God but had renounced the whole thing), my uncle insinuated
that she was headed for the "lake of fire." He gave the
"sermon" at her funeral service, and devastated my poor mother
and her sister with his obvious disregard for his own mother's memory.
He has told my mother on several occasions that she will go to the
"lake of fire." How do you think this makes her feel? Even if
he believed this to be true, in what way can he rationalize hurting his
family members like that? There is no man that I hate worse than Gerald
Flurry. I know it is wrong to hate a person, but he is no person, he is
pure evil. And I hate my uncle for delivering his own children to this
evil.
