A Live Presentation From Gerald Flurry

In this presentation Gerald did a lot of “hinting” that members would be protected during pandemics, but he wouldn’t come right out and say it in so many words. Since more people than just members would be viewing this video, it was noticed that he was being extra careful not to get himself incriminated for saying something that could be held against him later.

One must carefully listen to, or read through his words in the transcript that was sent to us, in order to spot the places where he hinted at protection from pandemics and pestilences.

This sickening “presentation” was also blasphemous in regard to certain things that were said and we cover that in our comments. Bolding ours.

Special Saturday Edition With Gerald Flurry

The presentation begins at Edstone in the United Kingdom with Stephen Flurry airing a newscast with an unnamed European giving coronavirus statistics.

GF: What do we do about all these problems? [Reads II Kings 2:21 verse 19: “And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.”] The water was killing the people and making the land barren. So the waters were healed. All you need is just a small miracle. And God promises that and does that for His people. He has to perform miracles in this end-time.

ESN: Hearing these words will make members feel they are “special” because only they are following God and no one else is.

GF: Where is the God of Elijah? He’s right there available to anybody who will look to Him and trust him like Elijah did. Something this world has yet to learn.

ESN: GF believes that HWA was the End-time Elijah.

Talks About the “End Time Elijah”

[Reads II Kings 2:1: “And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.”]

GF: This is prophecy for our end time, and our booklets will prove this.

[Reads II Kings 2:11-12: “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.”

GF: He knew Elijah was his spiritual father.”

ESN: Where does it say in these verses that Elisha knew Elijah was his spiritual father? Elisha was actually a greater prophet than Elijah. He took Elijah’s place. He had a double portion of the Spirit of God upon him.

(Notice II Kings 2:9-10 “…Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.”

Then it shows in II Kings 2:12-14 that Elisha had a double portion of the spirit as he smote the waters and they parted. Right before that, Elisha asked where is the God of Elijah?

These verses don’t put the emphasis on Elijah or Elisha. We are not to look to man. God is the God of the Lord Jesus Christ. Look to Him.

GF: “Elijah was saying this is the only chariot of Israel, there is no other, this is the only way! There is no other!

ESN: In other words, what GF is saying is, “PCG is the only church, the only way.” Yet the Scriptures say Jesus is the only way, not PCG. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) There is no where in this presentation where GF talks about Jesus except His sitting on a throne in the future. Nothing about Him being our Savior and saving us: “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” (II Timothy 1:9)

[Reads James 5:17: “Elias [Elijah] was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.”

GF: “Most everyone thinks this is the original Elijah, but this is the end time Elijah. The ancient Elijah didn’t pray, he prophesied. But this is spiritual rain the end time Elijah is talking about. Rain is end time revelation that God pours into His church.

[Reads verse 18: “And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.”]

ESN: Where does it say in verses 17-18 that this is referring to some “end time Elijah?” Where does it say that Elijah in the O. T. didn’t pray? It doesn’t! GF is spiritualizing these passages instead of taking them literally so that they will fit with his interpretation of Scripture.

Talks About Wars and Pestilences

GF: We know about wars and what’s going to happen! We prophecy about wars and pestilence, Christ commands us to do so.

ESN: PCG teaches that war and pestilence are part of the the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In the January 30, 2020 Trumpet, “The Wuhan Coronavirus and the Bible’s Prophesied Disease Pandemics,” GF stressed these prophecies are “for the present age.” GF says “The only ones promised divine protection are those few who have yielded to God and His way of life.” (This translates to “yielded to GF and the government in PCG.”) The article says members will “escape it” and that “God will provide a route of escape for those who will turn to and rely on Him.”

Members have always been taught to believe they would be leaving for a place of safety before things got really bad. (Read: Philadelphia Church of God and the Place of Safety.) But in this live presentation, it doesn’t appear as if members are leaving for the place of safety any time soon. Instead there are the hints that they will be protected through any pandemic or pestilence.

Emphasis on Herbert Armstrong

GF: But we keep pointing back to Mr. Armstrong who RESTORED ALL THINGS. [caps signify GF shouting]

ESN: GF keeps pointing us back to Herbert Armstrong and talking about him more than the Lord Jesus Christ who is the one we are to look to, not a man.

GF: …the truths poured out on Mr. Armstrong.

ESN: Read: Did Herbert Armstrong Have God’s Truth?

GF: That’s why God keeps bringing us back to Jan 16. FOCUS ON THIS MAN. FOCUS ON THIS MAN AND WHAT HE DID. [caps signify GF shouting] All built on the Elijah foundation. You want to get through to God, have more power, here’s the way to get it.

ESN: GF’s continual emphasis is on Herbert Armstrong in site of Scripture telling us: “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” (Psalms 146:3). GF tells us that Herbert Armstrong is the way to get through to God when Scripture says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5). Not the man Herbert Armstrong!

Herbert Armstrong’s Prayer Rock is also mentioned several times. Looking to this prayer rock is idolatrous.

This sermon was so blasphemous in causing members to look to Herbert Armstrong instead of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only one that can give eternal life. GF’s twisting of the Word of God was seen throughout.

While members foolishly look to Herbert Armstrong and place their trust in what they believe is “God’s true church” to deliver them from not only pandemics, but the Great Tribulation, they are unaware of what Philadelphia Church of God really is. A Bible-based abusive cult that will end up exploiting them financially while it places fear and guilt into them.
